چکیده
Abstract. High quality long-term data sets of altitude-resolved measurements the atmospheric composition are important because they can be used both to study evolution atmosphere and as a benchmark for future missions. For final ESA reprocessing MIPAS (Michelson Interferometer Passive Atmospheric Sounding) on ENVISAT (ENViromental SATellite) data, numerous improvements were implemented in Level 2 (L2) processor Optimised Retrieval Model (ORM) version 8.22 (V8) its auxiliary data. The changes involve all aspects processing chain, from modelling with handling horizontal inhomogeneities along line sight use optimal estimation technique retrieve minor species, more sensitive approach detecting spectra affected by clouds refined method identifying low products. Improvements also obtained an update spectroscopic databases providing priori knowledge atmosphere. HITRAN_mipas_pf4.45 database was finalised new verified themselves, while recently measured cross-sections heavy molecules. Initial Guess (IG2) set, containing climatology L2 generate initial guess interfering species profiles when retrieved previous scans not available, improved taking into account diurnal variation defined using climatologies models. Horizontal gradients generated ECMWF ERA-Interim closest time space Further V8 products derived L1b products, which upgraded reduce instrumental temporal drift handle abrupt calibration gain. introduced ORM together lead generation characterised increased accuracy, better stability greater number species.

Geophysical validation of temperature retrieved by the ESA processor from MIPAS/ENVISAT atmospheric limb-emission measurements
The Michelson Interferometer for Passive Atmospheric Sounding (MIPAS) has been operating since March 2002 onboard of the ENVIronmental SATellite of the European Space Agency (ESA). The high resolution (0.035 cm−1 full width half maximum, unapodized) limb-emission measurements acquired by MIPAS in the first two years of operation have very good geographical and temporal coverage and have been re...

This paper assesses the mean differences between the two ILAS-II data versions (1.4 and 2) by comparing them with MIPAS measurements made between May and October 2003. For comparison with ILAS-II results, MIPAS data processed at the (IMK) in cooperation with the Insti-tuto de Astrofísica de Andalucía (IAA) in Granada, Spain, were used. The coincidence criteria of ±300 km in space and ±12 h in t...

متن کاملIASI-METOP and MIPAS-ENVISAT data fusion
The combination of data obtained with different sensors (data fusion) is a powerful technique that can provide target products of the best quality in terms of precision and accuracy, as well as spatial and temporal coverage and resolution. In this paper the results are presented of the data fusion of measurements of ozone vertical profile performed by two space-borne interferometers (IASI on ME...
